Implementation of Small Scale Biomass Energy Technologies

This paper provides an outline of the small scale biomass energy technologies which the Natural Resources Institute is actively promoting through the British Government's overseas aid programme. Implementation of these biomass energy technologies, known as BETs, raises common issues in the areas of environmental aspects, project design and pilot scale application. These issues are considered in an overal approach but it is recognized that there is always the need for adaptation to fir local requirements. Effective pilot stage work is identified as a crucial step in the successful implementation of BETs. [Authors' abstract].
