Global Climate Change and Wetlands

This paper begins with a preliminary overview of the nature of climate change issues related to wetlands. It reviews the importance & characteristics of wetlands and such issues as ecological & biological impacts. The paper then presents finding of a survey of members of organizations interested in wetlands. The survey assessed their awareness of global change and its proposed impacts on wetlands, and determined if they were interested in receiving and/or distributing information on climate change. Finally, recommendations are made on increasing awareness of climate change issues and stimulating action & research.
