Résumé du livre

Gustafson's aesthetic philosophy is based on three premises. First, he claims that his aesthetic philosophy is drawn from the Bible. Second, he bases his decisions about aesthetics on associations and moral implications. Third, Gustafson's aesthetic is based on his exposure to the great works of music and his analysis of those works. Like his aesthetic philosophy, Gustafson's compositional style is influenced by his conservative background, education, and work environment. Gustafson's choral music can be divided into five broad categories: church anthems (77 works), concert pieces (21 works), incidental music for chorus (18 works), original hymn tunes (8 works), and one-act operas with chorus (3 works). Upon examining his choral music, several stylistic traits are evident. - leaves 139-140.
