The World's Commission traveled around the world between October 3, 1894 and January 15 1897 to collect materials to add to the collection of the Museum of the World's Rail Way, an exhibition at the Field Columbian Museum comprising materials from the Baltimore & Ohio and Pennsylvanian railroads that were first exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893.
