Identification of Potential Silica Sand Deposits in the Northwest Territories

This report provides an overview of potential silica sand deposits in the Northwest Territories (NWT) based on a compilation of existing data. Silica sand has many different uses including glass manufacturing, ceramics and various industrial applications. In this report we concentrate on sand used for hydraulic fracturing in the petroleum industry (frac sand) but the silica sand sources discussed also have other potential uses.
