A successful sustainable entrepreneur not onlycreates profitable enterprises but also achieves certain social and/orenvironmental objectives.This studydescribes the venturedevelopment processes of sustainable entrepreneurs. To be examined are the methods used by each company to: (1) identify andevaluate their opportunities; (2) arrange financing; (3) launch and developtheir business in spite of market challenges; (4) establish cultures thatreflected their own values and strengthened their firms; (5) leverage theirsocial identity to create a strong, profitable firm; (6) balance their idealismwith growth issues; and (7) harvest their successes in financial and socialterms. Twenty-one effectively sustainable entrepreneurial firms are examined,highlighting the incorporation of these factors within each organization.The purpose of the research is to educate future entrepreneurs by demonstratingthat firms can concurrently meet economic, social, and environmentalobjectives.
