Résumé du livre

Treatment services for persons with an addiction on Prince Edward Island are provided through Addictions Services, part of the province's broad health and social services system. This report presents a status update on how Addictions Services is functioning, as determined through interviews with staff, volunteers, and clients, and through examination of relevant reports and documents. The review considered such issues as the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of service delivery, gaps in service provision, the capability of current programs to meet the needs of client groups (women, youth, seniors), the potential for revenue generating programs, and the level of client satisfaction with treatment components. Recommendations are made regarding such matters as organizational structure, the need for a provincial plan, rationalization and accessibility of services, addressing barriers to service for certain groups, serving problem gamblers, and public awareness. The appendix contains descriptions of services offered by region.
