Résumé du livre
Edith Somerville (1858-1949) and Violet Martin (1862-1915) were members of impoverished but resourceful Anglo-Irish landlord families. From 1886 until Violet Martin's death they collaborated on numerous novels and short stories, often illustrated by Edith, and published under the names of Somerville and Ross. Their portrait of Ireland -- during a momentous thirty-year period up to 1915 -- is remarkably vivid and comprehensive. The letters chronicle the last days of the big house and chart the course of a unique collaboration between two highly gifted and unusual women. -- Provided by publisher.
