Résumé du livre
Oliver Farrar Emerson, a history of English specialist, shares his theories on the future of studying English grammar at the turn of the century. Although Emerson saw grammar as slipping from the curriculum in the recent past years, he predicts a vehement revival in the studies. He also shares his opinions on how and what should be taught within the topic. As a descriptivist, Emerson disliked the stark teaching of prescriptivist rules. Rather, he encouraged the presentation of?a more comprehensive view to provide background on concrete examples.
