Fonds consists of 2 diaries (a small diary is in the front pocket of the larger diary) and 6 account books kept by Alfred Atkinson. The diaries and account books cover the years from 1869 to 1938. A small diary from 1869-1870 was written while he was a young schoolteacher in Washington and Plattsville, Ontario. The diary dated 1871-1875 includes entries from his life in Brantford, Ontario, as an employee of S.H. & Co. The account book covering the years 1929-1938 includes a biographical sketch of Alfred Atkinson and the family of Mary Helena Cass written by Norman Found. Fonds includes letters of acquisition.
