Résumé du livre
Deep South Connections The Hook and Fowler Families of South Carolina and Georgia With Dunn, Kendrick, Knox, Beasley, and Conger Pedigrees _Deep South Connections_ is a different sort of book. The typical dry genealogical charts have been hosed down with water and wine. The lines of descent are interspersed with first-hand recollections of the people and times, lending animation to scholarship. Sometimes the memories are warm, sometimes they are cut short by missing persons or the loss of whole generations, but always they evoke thoughts about the people involved, who sometimes are run-of-the-mill, sometimes leave a mark on their family and even the world, but sometimes also, being human, leave a trail of tragedy, incompleteness, and mystery. Both members of this husband-and-wife writing team have authored books and articles individually. Harriett Hook is a retired professional school librarian and media specialist. Her genealogical study, _My Virginia Connections_, appeared in 2005. _Reminisce_ magazine carried an article of hers in 2006. In addition to other activities and occupations, Dr. Hook taught for more than 35 years at the university level. This is his 37th non-fiction book on various topics. Most of his 100+ articles are learned, some of which might well have profited from the hosing mentioned above! See the last page of this book for ordering instructions.
