Air Quality in the Kootenays, 1992

This is the first air quality report for the entire Kootenay region of British Columbia, presenting results of monitoring in 1992. The first part of the report presents background information on the air contaminants routinely monitored in 1992, including particulates, lead, zinc, sulphur dioxide, and total reduced sulphur compounds. The second part contains graphs of the 1992 monitoring results, including an analysis of the 1992 air contaminant concentrations with respect to ambient air quality objectives and 10-year annual average concentration trends for the 1983-92 period, where data are available. The appendix provides key information on the basic principles of atmospheric pollution, including the major groups of air contaminants, the atmospheric contaminant cycle, and meteorological influences on air pollution.
