Résumé du livre
During Canada's early years it was law that all white settlers between 16 and 65 must serve in the sedentary militia of their country. Aboriginal warriors served in their own units of the Indian Department on an Ad Hoc basis. "The MARTIAL SPIRIT" is Roger's second book, the story of those formative years of the militia and Six Nations warriors in Brant County 1784 to 1884. As the country of Canada matured it became obvious that the old sedentary militia system was inadequate to defend Canada. So in 1855 the present Volunteer Militia system was created. Roger's first book is, "Soldiers and Warriors," the exciting story of the first ten years of the volunteer system in Brant County, Canada, from the formation of Independent Companies to the establishment of the 38th Brant Battalion of Infantry. He is also the author of "A Movement of the Spirit" the interesting story of St. James Anglican Church, Paris, ON.
