My personal interest in art making and play is the impetus for this research, which explores the "role" of imaginary play in art making and the recall and retention of academic content in students' grades Kindergarten through Third. This thesis explores how students make personal connections to content during imaginary play, experimentation, and art making, resulting in improved ability to understand a subject.
