This book analyses the debate on the structure of higher education in some industrialized societies (Germany, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA, Japan, Australia). The period covered is the last three decades, an era of the most intensive reform of higher education. The book systematises structural patterns (models), and compares the way in which the different countries have solved their problems in organising higher education.
