Palaeoecology of a Well-preserved Crinoid Colony from the Silurian Rochester Shale in Ontario

An exceptionally well-preserved assemblage of crinoids and other fossils is described from the Rochester Shale (Upper Silurian, Wenlockian) of Ontario. These crinoids have retained complete crowns, columns, and holdfasts and are preserved essentially in life position, indicating rapid destruction and anastrophic burial of a level mud-bottom community.
