This Guideline is intended to help health and safety professionals, employers, and employees to evaluate exposures to engineered nanoparticles in workplaces governed by federal jurisdiction and to apply control measures. This document highlights nanomaterials as an emerging occupational hazard by reviewing adverse health effects of exposure and discussing potential for exposure within federally regulated workplaces. This Guideline advises on hazardous chemical substance assessment and management strategies pertaining to nanoparticles. The purpose of this Guideline is to support the Labour Program's mandate of fostering safe and healthy workplace environments.
