Résumé du livre

"Fashion brand companies are tackling the issue of textile waste by using pre-consumer and post-consumer textile waste as material resources in creating and selling upcycled merchandise. Once limited to items such as patchwork quilts, bags made from worn jeans, and children's wear made from worn adult clothing, upcycled fashions have become more sophisticated and commercially viable. Luxury fashions, unique high-quality accessories, and one-of-a-kind apparel are being produced using textile waste. For example, Looptworks, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, uses worn airline leather seat covers and excess and deadstock materials caused by order changes or cancellations to create a variety of merchandise including apparel, backpacks, duffle bags, and other accessories. To be economically sustainable, Looptworks must have continual sources of high-quality materials to create their upcycled products. In fact, they would like to expand, or scale, their business activities. Students are asked to (1) evaluate alternative opportunities and recommend strategies to scale their business and (2) work with the marketing team in creating effective communications around upcycling and zero-waste design."--Bloomsbury Publishing.
