A study of Dickens's novel "The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club" in its serial form. Discusses the copies of various owners, the eleven points or primary attributes which determine a prime copy, variations in the illustrations, differences in the assembling of the advertisements. With no two copies in full agreement, it questions what combination of text, plates and advertisements would make a complete and perfect copy.
