Volume 2 follows on from Volume 1 at beginner level, and assumes that students have completed the first part (or an equivalent course). It contains ten lessons (Lessons 11-20) integrated with soundrecordings (on audio CDs), and each lesson introduces 22 Chinese characters. The lessons consist of new vocabulary, speech patterns, dialogues, notes on grammar, a cultural note, exercises, character stroke order, and information on Chinese characters.
