"The epidemic of childhood obesity in the United States is impacting the healthcare cost resulting in a national cost of $150 billion a year. A reduction in childhood obesity rates at least by 5% can result in health care savings of $29 billion annually. Obesity is preventable through education, which healthcare providers can make a difference by educating children in their practice. The 5-2-1-Almost None (AN) program is a program introduced by the Nemours Health and Prevention Services to assist clinicians change current pediatric weight management programs. The 5-2-1-AN was utilized in a community pediatric center to educate a randomly selected group of children six-eleven years on ways to change eating habits and lifestyle behaviors. This paper will discuss the process used for the development, implementation and evaluation of the project using the Rosswurm and Larrabee model for Evidence-Based Practice as a guiding framework." -- Abstract.
