Résumé du livre
Nancy Slate kept this diary while teaching in Greenwich, Mass. She refers to subjects that she taught and lectures she attended (e.g., "whether men or women have done the most mischief" in Spring 1844). She wrote of shopping and had a very active social life with friends and family. She participated in parties, games, sleigh rides, and snowball fights. She described Fourth of July and Thanksgiving celebrations and commented on the presidential election of 1844, favoring Henry Clay. She also referenced witnessing a Loco-Foco convention on Sept. 25, 1844. Slate attended temperance lectures even though she refused to deliver a temperance lecture "in a rocking chair" (Sept. 15, 1844).
