Résumé du livre
It's a 66,000-word novel. The story is: It's 53 B.C. and a Roman Centurion named Quintus is taken prisoner during one of Rome's greatest humiliating defeats. The victors took thousands of Roman prisoners to the furthest eastern corners of their empire and legend has it some became mercenaries in western China. One of those mercenaries - Quintus - is captured by an evil Chinese warlord (Meng). After being tortured, he is rescued and taken to a mountain where an elderly Taoist sage tells him it had been foretold that a man from the west would learn the 'Way' and walk the earth until all of humanity needed his help. After enduring 2000 years of wandering the Earth - of which we visit Ireland during the Cromwellian conquest, America's Wild West, suburban life during the US during the 1960s and again China during Mao's Cultural Revolution - a somewhat beaten-up and demoralized Quintus will somehow have to dig deep and come out of retirement to save the world from its impending doom.As mankind find itself on the ropes, Quintus is again pitted against a reincarnation of the Meng character whom is now a Wall Street investment banker in cahoots with some unsavory characters. As the doomsday clock ticks, Quintus returns to China to fulfill his destiny.
