Résumé du livre
This textbook supports the course, Atlantic Encounters, which introduces students to the peoples and traditions that gave birth to the multicultural Atlantic world of the early modern period (roughly 1450-1850). Particular attention is given to the cultural encounters of peoples from Africa, Europe, and the Americas; the rise of modern "ways of knowing" and the authority structures and cultures shaping knowledge; and the emergence of trans-Atlantic traditions of liberty and slavery.
