Albert Oehlen studied in Hamburg with Sigmar Polke and played a central role in a prodigious group of artists who came to the fore in the 1980s. Accompanying the 2012 exhibition which was held at the Gagosian Gallery, this book illustrates Oehlen's distinct oeuvre, characterized by its heterogeneity of method, palette and genre, which makes painting its subject as well as its medium.
