Contains 12 letters. Four letters written in 1855 by George F. Price to his mother, Mrs. Melissa Price (later, Knapp), and 1 letter to his grandmother, from Yreka, Calif. These include descriptions of mining conditions, concerns about nearby Indians, and his involvement with the temperance issue and local politics, particularly regarding the "Know-Nothings." An additional letter written in 1866 from Raleigh, N.C., to his mother refers to the "Mormon question" in Utah and family affairs concerning her recent remarriage. Also includes 3 letters written in the spring of 1878 by Henrietta Nesmith from San Diego, Calif., concerning their relationship, as well as 4 letters from various individuals written to Capt. Price in 1878 regarding his military career while he was attached to the Missouri Regiment.
