Résumé du livre
The two parishes of Brilley and Michaelchurch lie one on either side of the English/Welsh border, but share a village hall and have joined hands in many community projects. It was a growing awareness of the rate of change that prompted the Village Hall Committee to establish the Brilley Living Archive Group to record and document spoken memories of past and present residents of Brilley and Michaelchurch, most of whose lives were rooted in farming. This book is a selection from those recordings, accompanied by photographs, which portray a community that has gently changed over time, not least through the loss of the village school and a gradual reduction in the number of people whose livelihood depends upon agriculture, but yet clearly retains a certain vibrancy. Within these pages are tales of school and farm life down the years, of many characters who have come and gone, of a wartime factory and Kington Camp.
