Russia's Influence in Africa, a Security Perspective

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 intensified the international community’s attention to the Kremlin’s political and security aims worldwide, particularly in Africa, where Russia continues to strengthen its footprint. Under President Vladimir Putin’s leadership, Russia has made a concerted effort to reinvigorate historical bilateral relations, forge new ties, and expand and improve existing ties with African partners.
