Designing an Effective Black and White Graded Series: a Literature Review

This report is intended for concerned map authors and map sponsors, especially at Statistics Canada, who are concerned about designing an effective achromatic graded series for thematic maps. Since the production of color maps is becoming more and more costly, the issue of generating black and white graded tones is once again gaining more importance.
