Résumé du livre
In Upsidoon, lyrical poems are at play with the rhythms of regular speech. Opening poems savour the rich feel of everyday events (taking a shower, making coffee, having a sauna), pulling them back from being routinized. Then there is a move to poems that explore the span of experiences we can have over a lifetime, and what sort of patterns--and lives--these make. Other poems track our changing, often conflicting, relations to nature, from agricultural to industrial to climate-change perspectives. A last group of poems looks hard at what often seems beyond our control today--in wars, in civil unrest, in accidents--and seeks ways to say "yes!" to life in the midst of these.
