Thomas Franklin Simpson/Simson (1837-ca. 1924) who married Margaret Emerine Van Hooser in 1868, was the descendant of James Simpson who emigrated from Ulster, Ireland in 1746. One ancestor, Hannah, was the mother of President Ulysses Simpson Grant. Descendants lived in Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and elsewhere.
