Diary includes descriptions of Caroline Broun's personal circumstances, those of her children and close family members and expressions of feelings about her situation. Also includes copies of letters, family events and newspaper cuttings. The latter part of the journal contains newspaper cuttings from the twentieth century adhered to blank pages, presumably by Caroline's descendants. Background notes to the diary were written by Robert Atkins, great great grandson of Caroline and Peter Broun.
