Résumé du livre
Gordon Smith has been a practicing visual artist for nearly seven decades. He has explored the mediums of painting, printmaking and sculpting throughout his career with zeal and a sense of purpose. Most widely known as a painter of the Canadian landscape, Smith has explored aspects of abstraction, realism, and formalism throughout his lifetime. He has consistently created prints to complement, counter or inform his painting, sculpture, collage and photographic practices. Smith has investigated, refined and advanced knowledge related to traditional printmaking techniques such as intaglio, serigraphy, relief and lithography. Always fresh, engaging and rooted within a comprehensive and self-reflective practice, Smith's prints provide an alternative way in which to connect with the artist's work, explore his art, and reflect upon its connections with his canvas works.
