Résumé du livre
In response to problems with the current British Columbia Forest Practices Code, the Minister of Forests has made a commitment to introduce a new, more workable Code based on end results rather than processes. To meet this goal, the government has implemented a consultation process to solicit input on a detailed, results-based Code. This report summarizes public input & makes recommendations with regard to the following reform-related objectives: reducing transactional & operational costs to industry, reducing the Code's complexity, providing the forest industry freedom to manage in the delivery of defined results, maintaining the Code's high environmental standards, balancing environmental & socio-economic interests, maintaining & enhancing public acceptance of forest management, consistency with the resource capacity of government, strengthening the compliance & enforcement regime, and addressing First Nations concerns.
