Theoretical and experimental results are given for two-dimensional dispersion of a miscible second fluid through a basic groundwater flow. Methods are described for determination of the flow parameters and dispersion coefficients needed for application of the theory. The significant effect of and differences between lateral and longitudinal dispersion are demonstrated.
