Field notes Vol. 364 contains diary entries for William Campbell Steere's trip to Japan in 1963 to attend the third meeting of the US-Japan Committee on Scientific Cooperation, and additional travel throughout the country. Steere attended the meeting as a representative of the New York Botanical Garden. The diary entries are for the dates May 6-19. The daily entries are very detailed, and include travel itineraries and expenditures, notes on weather and living conditions, descriptions of meetings and conference sessions, and botanical observations during the travel in Japan.
