Résumé du livre

**** Owen (1771-1858), of course, was the spectacularly successful entrepreneur (ironically, in the emerging field of cotton-spinning, which helped to propel England to industrial supremacy) who expended his fortune and became a seminal cooperativist, socialist, and communitarian. The single-volume Everyman's Library selection of Owen's writings is cited in Sheehy. The present extensive selection, impeccably produced and splendidly edited, is divided among its four volumes as follows: V.1: Early Writings (089-9; also includes Claeys's excellent introduction as well as a bibliography of Owen's writings); V.2: The Development of Socialism (090-2); V.3: The Book of the New Moral World (091-0); and V.4: The Life of Robert Owen (092-9; includes a consolidated index).
