Résumé du livre
This study examined the extent to which the design of computer workstations and student postures adhered to ergonomic principles while working with computers in a middle school computer class. The infrequent application of ergonomic principles in the school system raises concerns about the musculoskeletal health of students. To investigate the design of student computer workstations and student postural adherence to ergonomic principles, an embedded case study with a non-experimental quantitative design was used. The study was conducted in one computer classroom at a middle school in New Jersey and the findings were based on observations. Using SPSS, descriptive and inferential statistics were used to answer the research questions. Data analysis revealed that the design of computer workstations and students' postures generally adhered to ergonomic principles. It was recommended that further research be conducted regarding student postural adherence to ergonomic principles and effects of ergonomically incorrect computer workstation designs on students' musculoskeletal health.
