Résumé du livre
HOW NATURE MANAGED FIRST by PETER STARBUCK PhD
In the five chapters of How Nature Managed First, Peter Starbuck takes the reader through the vast sweep of history, illustrating the essential role of management by analogy with the natural world. His first workshop reviews man's progress from the earliest civilisations through to the Industrial Revolution.
The second and third build on this by reviewing very succinctly the development of management theory and the major management gurus. He then reverts to the Natural World and illustrates just how the key principles can be observed at work in Nature. The final workshop brings the two worlds together, with more helpful analogies and further questions considered.Anyone prepared to work through the questions at the end of each section should emerge with a good understanding of the fundamentals of management, while a competent teacher should be able to give children a real feel for the vital role of management in the world.
This is also an excellent guide to the major works of the leading management thinkers, whose key titles are listed. Finally, I doubt if anyone could come away without having encountered a number of the fascinating behaviours of the animal world for the first time.
