Résumé du livre
Until recently, the story of the Sephardim in Sydney has been largely untold and unrecognised. Their communities across the Middle East and North Africa were displaced. Those who eventually found a new home in Australia struggled, both in terms of navigating the wider community and also the Jewish community, which did not understand them. We hope this exhibition illuminates this fascinating group on acknowledging their rich history and the difficulties they have faced, and their willingness to embrace new opportunities in their adopted homeland, while still holding onto their cherished customs and traditions.
