Résumé du livre
The first of two volumes, this book is primarily concerned with the teaching of creative writing at any grade level, although some ideas may not be applicable in teaching very young students. Although concentrating on the writing of free verse poetry and short "expressive" prose, much of the material presented can be applied to any writing, including essays. This volume discusses ways to turn the classroom into a writing workshop, the writing process, and the teacher's relationship with student writers. Chapters consist of: (1) Introduction; (2) The Writing Workshop; (3) Inspiration and the Unconscious; (4) The Writing Process; (5) Form and Content; (6) Revision; (7) Feedback; (8) Shop Talk; and (9) Workshop Products. Appendixes include case studies of four students and their writing experiences, and a set of guidelines for the visiting writer. (MM)
