Résumé du livre

The performance of two dissimilar flame-holder and fuel-system configurations were evaluated in a short afterburner. The engine was operated at rated speed over a range of altitudes from 10,000 to 45,000 feet and flight Mach numbers from 0.4 to 1.0 and a range of afterburner fuel-air ratios. The altitude operating limits and the altitude performance of the V-gutter flame holder were found superior to those of the H-gutter configuration. Spontaneous ignition was obtained with the V-gutter configuration but the H-gutter configuration required the use of a torch ignition.
