Résumé du livre
The Potawatomi, traditionally a canoe-traveling people, lived near the waterways of the Great Lakes area. They intersected American history at critical points. they were caught up in the conflicts between the French and English colonial powers, and they fought in the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Their story is one of new ideas and adaptations to change. It shows a proud and democratic people interacting with other Indian groups as well as with French trappers and traders. More recently the Potawatomi, who live today in scattered locations from Oklahoma and Kansas to Ontario, have taken part in protests to assert Indian rights, participated in movements to enhance Indian identity nationwide, and struggled to control their own lives. --!
