Bulletin issued, May 1965, by David Fellman (University of Wisconsin), President, and William P. Fiddler, General Secretary, enclosing a copy of the "Report of the Self-Survey Committee of the American Association of University Professors," a speech delivered by Walter P. Metzger (1922-2016) of Columbia University before the fifty-first annual meeting of the Association. Metzger discusses the Association's work during the 1950s and 1960s, as well as the importance of academic freedom, the economic status of the profession, a summary of the association's expansion, and problems created by the expansion. Metzger's talk presents an overview of a contemporary 216 page report recently published by the Association.
