Résumé du livre
The letters provide good insight into the management of the Orange Hill Estate, Jamaica. The letters were sent to James Foulds from his brother Samuel and his agent John Mckie. In 1816, Samuel writes of an insurrection in Barbadoes, which fortunately was suppressed. The sugar estates and part of the town were burnt down. A great many negroes were killed and the ringleaders were hung. Much information was given on raising sugar, the care, feeding, purchase of black slaves, and the making of rum.
