This study seeks to identify sources of motivation in adult literacy learning through a case-presentation analysis of a program the author directed from 1987 - 1996 at the Bob Steele Reading Center in Hartford, Connecticut. This study takes a life-cycle perspective in exploring motivation throughout the stages of the literacy learning process.
