They did not live in the seven countries during all these years as visitors, but became as one with the inhabitants and had solidly established homes. The unusual interest in Phyllis Bottome's extended life lies in the inner and outer experiences that she survived, as well as the extraordinary variety of her human contacts. These included poets, philosophers, scientists, Presidents and Prime Ministers, admirals and generals, as well as several murderers--and above all the famous psychologist, Alfred Adler.
