This is a story of the struggle to break free of a troubled past, and an effort to chart a new course for the future. After dropping out of high school, becoming a teenage mother, being abandoned by her husband, and receiving public assistance to support her two young daughters, Barbara’s hopes of a bright future looked dim. But through years of hard work and perseverance, she achieves her goal of earning an associate degree.
