Résumé du livre
This book contains the author's descriptive genealogy, learning why he came into being in southwestern Oklahoma. The primary reason was land, cheap land. It is also a memoir of his life growing up on a small farm in the mid-20th century and continuing on to retirement in Arkansas. Remnants of the author's DNA are from passengers on the Winthrop Fleet of 1630, soldiers in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Texas Revolution of 1836 and the Civil War as well as from German immigrants who arrived in America in 1873. The book also contains the sailing story of the author's 2nd great grandfather (Knut Ketels) who left home in northern Germany as a teenager and sailed the Atlantic and Pacific seas from 1842 to 1846. It also contains a Prairie Lore story written by the author's great uncle whose family left Randolph County, Arkansas, and moved to Cotton County, Oklahoma, in 1915.
