Analysis of Lower Devonian Conodont Ecology, Eureka County, Nevada

The purpose of this study is to determine the physical and biotic factors controlling the distribution of the genera Icriodus and Polygnathus. This is accomplished by using the occurrences fo these taxa in Lower Devonian carbonate rocks in Eureka County, Nevada as a test of the ecologic models for the control of conodont distribution. Knowledge of the physical and biotic environments is derived from stratigraphic information and details of sedimentary petrology. An understanding of factors controlling the distribution of these taxa can enhance their biostratigraphic utility.
